Odds of winning the Super Bowl 2024
This is by far the NFL futures market that attracts the most action in terms of bets taken and money wagered. Casual bettors are often drawn to Super Bowl futures so they can bet on their favorite team and make a decent profit as that team caps a magical season with a championship.
Conversely, so-called astute bettors get involved in the Super Bowl futures market for one reason: value. If they firmly believe that odds makers are shorting certain teams, savvy bettors will rush to them.
This Super Bowl 2024 betting favorite is the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs. Sportbooks released odds for the next big game winner the day after Super Bowl LVII.

Notable trends: The last 10 Super Bowl winners have won at least 11 regular-season games, including the defending champion Chiefs, who won 14-3 in 2022. Do you think the Chiefs can go back-to-back? History suggests that’s unlikely, as there hasn’t been a repeat Super Bowl champion since the 2003-04 New England Patriots.
It’s also probably unwise to place a Super Bowl Futures bet on a team that didn’t do very well last season. As of the 2009 season, only the Philadelphia Eagles (2017) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2020) have hoisted the Lombardi Trophy after winning fewer than 10 games the previous season. (Both went 7-9.)

At DraftKings, the top three favorites to win the AFC in 2023 are the Chiefs (+350), Bills (+475), and Bengals (+475). In the NFC, the Niners (+330), Eagles (+400) and Cowboys (+600) led.
Notable trends: No AFC South team has made the Super Bowl since the 2009 Colts, and no NFC North team has made it since the 2010 Packers. Additionally, at least one AFC West or NFC West squad has appeared in 10 of the last 12 Super Bowls.

The most competitive division, at least from the oddsmakers’ perspective? This is the NFC North in 2023. The Lions are favorites against the field, but the Vikings, Bears and Packers aren’t far behind.
Notable trend: In 2021, when the NFL first switched to a 17-game schedule, six out of eight division winners won at least 12 games. Exceptions were the Bills (11 wins) and Bengals (10).
Betting on teams to reach playoffs
Many online sportsbooks offer bettors the opportunity to bet on teams to qualify for the postseason.
In addition to adding one more game to the regular-season schedule, the NFL added two teams (one in each conference) to the playoff field. As such, 14 of the league’s 32 teams – or 43.8% – can now play meaningful January football.
About half of the teams in the league have negative odds to reach the playoffs.
