NEOM prepares tender for the construction of an infrastructure corridor connecting OXAGON with other projects: MEED
RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s megacity NEOM is preparing to issue tender documents for the completion of construction on an infrastructure corridor that will connect its industrial city of OXAGON with other elements of the $500 billion project in north-western Saudi Arabia, MEED reported.
OXAGON, also known as NEOM Industrial City, was officially launched in November 2021 and will be built around the seaport of Duba in the southwest corner of NEOM and will include onshore elements and offshore floating structures.
The contractors responded to the prequalification request for the project known as the NIC Connector over the past year, the MEED report said.
The project includes the design and construction of a 60-kilometer infrastructure corridor that runs south of The Line at Neom City Station through NEOM Bay Mansions, NEOM Bay Airport and on to OXAGON.
The industrial city project aims to promote sustainable energy, autonomous mobility, water innovation, sustainable food production, and health and well-being.
Development also targets technology and digital manufacturing, including telecommunications, space engineering and robotics; and modern construction methods.
While bids for a contract to supply dredging and quay wall works at the port of Duba are being prepared for submission by contractors by July 3, MEED reported.
The scope of the package includes excavation and dredging, channel widening revetments, demolition, container terminal wharf extension and earthworks.
It also includes the development of a flexible wharf, a roll-on/roll-off berth and quay walls to accommodate a naval service berth and a coast guard berth.
