On Monday, September 4th, Americans across the country will celebrate the 141st Labor Day in the United States. Labor Day is celebrated on the first Monday of September and the date may vary from year to year.
Many will use the long weekend to take their last vacation and travel before the unofficial end of summer.

A celebration of workers’ struggles and achievements
Though often associated with barbecues and picnics, weekend getaways, sales and parades, this national holiday celebrates decades of struggle to enforce workers’ rights and recognizes the contribution and achievements of American workers.
The labor movement had been demanding better working conditions since 1882, but it took Congress twelve years to declare Labor Day a federal holiday.

Is Wall Street open on Labor Day? Stock market holiday
Depending on the nature of the occasion, most employees will take Monday off. This means that many offices and services will not be open, such as the post office and banks.
Those who work in the financial markets will also be on vacation as Wall Street is not open on Labor Day. On this day, most financial markets, including the New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ, are closed for trading.
Normally, Wall Street resumes normal trading hours the next business day after Labor Day.
