Choi Hyun-man, CEO and Chairman of Mirae Asset Securities, was named Person of the Year by the Korea Exchange.

Choi, born in 1961, was recognized for his leadership of the securities firm as he successfully led the initial public offering (IPO) of the games publisher Krafton. Mirae Asset Securities led a total of 21 IPOs last year, most from any underwriter in Korea.

“Choi Hyun-man, as CEO of the No. 1 securities firm, has made a huge contribution to the revitalization of the Korean c -ital market, which has led to an increase in the number of investors in Korea,” the Korea Exchange said in a press release.

Choi was recommended by Korea Exchange staff, public companies and journalists, with investors and journalists taking part in the final vote.

Korea Exchange was named Person of the Year for the first time to honor executives who have helped improve the Korean market.
