Huizenga chairs the Financial Services Oversight Subcommittee

Congressman Bill Huizenga says he looks forward to working with the Financial Services Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee to ensure Congress has better oversight of financial markets. He was appointed chairman of the subcommittee.

“I look forward to having this conversation with regulators like the Securities and Exchange Commission about what they’ve been doing,” Huizenga said. “Franky, you have ignored Congress and its constitutional oversight role. We want to end that. We will look at the operations of the stock exchanges, the Nasdaq New York Stock Exchange and other similar places.”

Federal agencies under the jurisdiction of the Financial Service Committee include the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Federal Reserve, and the Department of Treasury. Huizenga told Politico that he wants to investigate a recent trading error at the New York Stock Exchange, crypto and the Securities and Exchange Commission.
