Government Affairs and Marine Corps Veteran Travis Horr joins Better Markets as Director of External Affairs
WASHINGTON, DC— Travis Horr has joined Better Markets as Director of External Affairs. Bringing his experience in government affairs, Capitol Hill advocacy and the Marine Corps, he will serve as Better Markets’ primary point of contact for Congress, the administration, allies, other advocates and organizations, industry representatives and other organizations and individuals involved are economic and financial policies.
“Travis is a seasoned government relations professional with a thorough understanding of the policy-making process and an excellent track record of delivering results,” said Dennis Kelleher, President and CEO of Better Markets. “As an Air Force veteran, I know that Travis’ skills and experience from serving in the Marine Corps will also position him to be an effective advocate. He will bring this diverse experience to the halls of power and advocate for an economic system that creates broad-based opportunity and prosperity for all Americans.”
“Growing up in rural Maine and watching my union dad travel far and wide for work, I witnessed firsthand the problems many hard-working Americans face when trying to save, invest to buy a home, start a small business, and achieve economic security and prosperity for their families. Resolving these issues often means fair and equitable access to credit and other financial services and products, which is why I’m excited to join Better Markets and fight for a financial system and economy that serves all Americans,” Horr said. “I look forward to working with the Executive Branch, members and staff of Congress, and other advocates and organizations for a financial system that supports the real economy, protects financial consumers and investors, enables oversight and accountability, and creates financial stability.”
Mr. Horr most recently served as senior director of government affairs for Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), where he led the organization’s office of government affairs and its interactions with administration and Congress. He also lobbied for legislation and prepared and presented testimonies for congressional hearings.
Mr. Horr is a graduate of the University of Southern Maine and a United States Marine Corps veteran.
