In this feature, we’re highlighting three teams that are trending up or down in our NFL performance rankings. Keep in mind that TheLines week 6 power rankings are not based on futures markets, although there is a chance that value is available. Instead, they assess a team’s prospects week by week. The ranks are composed of eight staff — in order of which team they would have favored on a neutral field this week.

No. 18 New York Giants ()
Typically, a team in the upper ranks of our Week 6 Power Ladder will move up the most. However, the Giants are bucking that trend and making the biggest jump this time (6). That postponement comes after their upset win over the Packers in London.
Brian Daboll, ex-Bills offensive coordinator and now New York head coach, completely changed the offensive line for the better. Instead of implementing more 11-staff packages, which most of the league has been doing, Daboll has been extremely creative with their 12-13-staff looks. In turn, Daniel Jones, a healthy Saquon Barkley & Co., has earned the NFL’s 11th-highest EPA per game to date.
Additionally, Leonard Williams (knee) and Azzez Ojulari (knee) — two key members of the front seven — could return for a home date against the Ravens. The current point distribution for this game is below.
Spread at week 6: Giants
No. 19 New England Patriots ()
Despite the provisional loss of Mac Jones (ankle), the Patriots have covered in consecutive games, including a resounding win over the Lions as three-point home favorites. They also jumped six places.
Western Kentucky product Bailey Zappe has played admirably, and her defense deserves credit too, giving up the league’s ninth-lowest EPA per game. They have relied – for the most part – on man-to-man coverage, though lacking a true shutdown corner. It’s paying off, as New England’s pass defense has the sixth-lowest dropback success (SR) rate in the NFL.
For context, a game is considered successful if it produces:
- 50 percent the yards it takes to move the chains down first
- 70 percent Yards to win on the second down
- 100 percent Yards to gain on third or fourth down
The Patriots’ next Test comes against the Browns, who are 13th in our Week 6 Power Rankings.
Spread in Week 6: Patriots
- Who is the worst in the Patriots? Brett Collson (#21)
No. 21 Denver Broncos ()
After a terrible offensive performance against the Colts, the Broncos fell the most of any team in our Week 6 Power Rankings (6).
For one, Russell Wilson shows the ninth-lowest Completion Percentage Over Expected (CPOE) — a metric that isolates a quarterback’s performance from that of their opponent — while struggling with a shoulder injury. He and Denver head coach Nathaniel Hackett also teamed up to deliver the seventh-lowest EPA per game in the process.
If the Broncos’ ground game doesn’t magically come to life at the Chargers, good luck trusting Wilson to “cook.”
Spread at week 6: Broncos
- Who is the best in the Broncos? Mo Nuwwarah (No. 16)
