The US economy is expected to have grown at a solid pace in the last quarter of 2022, the second consecutive quarter of expansion following a period of negative growth.
Economists polled by FactSet estimate that gross domestic product grew at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 2.3% in the fourth quarter, which would mark a decline from the 3.2% growth in the third quarter and a sustained reversal from the first half of the year the economy experienced a technical recession. The first reading of GDP, due at 8:30 am Eastern Thursday, is one of the most important economic news stories for investors this week.
