Srinagar: The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) organized a financial literacy seminar in collaboration with the National Institute of Technology Srinagar (NIT Srinagar) on Saturday.
The aim of the event was to promote financial education and create awareness about capital markets among students and faculty of NIT Srinagar. The seminar began with a warm welcome speech by Prof. Adnan Qayoum, Head of the Department of Humanities, Social and Management Sciences (HSS&M) at NIT Srinagar.
He thanked the esteemed guests and participants and emphasized the importance of financial literacy in today’s dynamic economic landscape.
The highlight of the seminar was the presence of the Chief Guest, Mr. Shri SVMD Rao, Managing Director, SEBI. Mr. Rao provided insights on the importance of financial literacy and SEBI’s role in regulating India’s securities and stock markets.
He encouraged the audience to take an active interest in financial education and to be prudent investors.
Following the opening speech, the seminar included two technical sessions led by renowned guest speakers. The first session was chaired by Mr. Shri Pranjal Jayaswal, General Manager, SEBI. Mr. Jayaswal gave a comprehensive overview of SEBI’s regulatory framework and its efforts to protect investors and ensure fair market practices.
The second technical session was chaired by Mr. Joginder Singh, Vice President, NSE. Mr. Singh delved into the intricacies of investing in the capital markets and provided valuable insights into market dynamics, investment strategies and risk management. His session was particularly well received by the enthusiastic audience.
The seminar also included an exciting quiz that tested participants’ knowledge of financial markets and investment principles. It provided participants with a fun and educational way to assess their financial literacy.
The technical sessions were followed by a lively interactive question and answer session where students and teachers could clarify their doubts and seek advice from the expert speakers.
At the end of the seminar, Ms. Kanika gave a vote of thanks and thanked all participants, speakers and organizers for the success of the event. She also emphasized the importance of continuous efforts to improve financial literacy among the youth.
The Financial Literacy Seminar organized by SEBI, NSE and NIT Srinagar was a resounding success and ensured the participants were better informed about the world of finance and investments. It reflected these organizations’ commitment to equipping individuals with the knowledge and skills they need to make informed financial decisions.
