In normal times, football bettors would have already witnessed the World Cup final.
However, moving this year’s tournament to Qatar means bettors will have to wait just over four months for the start of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. On the bright side, this extra time gives us bettors more time to evaluate the various futures markets available for the quadrennial spectacle.
Today we will focus on Team USA – drawn in Group B with England, Wales and Iran – and how we will approach their bids going forward.

Team USA World Cup Odds and Predictions – 2022 FIFA World Cup
Those assessing America’s chances in Qatar will recall that they failed to qualify for the last World Cup in Russia.
However, the team’s results in the previous tournament make me a little optimistic about their prospects in Qatar. In South Africa 2010 and Brazil 2014, the USA reached the knockout stages before being eliminated by Ghana and Belgium respectively.
Also, last time out at the World Cup, the USA were able to navigate what I felt was a much more complex group. That group was of course the USA, Germany, Portugal and Ghana. Although this year’s squad is almost completely different from 2014, there is still plenty of talent.

Undoubtedly the strength of this group lies in attack and midfield, carried by Christian Pulisic (Chelsea), Tyler Adams (Leeds United) and Weston McKennie (Juventus). Also, USA were 3-2-1 (WLD) against other CONCACAF qualifiers in six games and could see some positive regression from those encounters.
Despite ending those six games with a goal difference of -1, USA had a +3 lead on big scoring chances, according to fotmob.com. Perhaps most impressively, USA drew 1-0-1 (WLD) against Mexico in two games, winning both games by a combined 5-2 advantage on scoring chances.
If the USA bring that level of quality to the group stage, I can easily imagine it coming through. England are still in the league of Group B and should have no problem winning the group – some might be alarmed by a 4-0 Nations League defeat by Hungary, but it wasn’t a full-strength squad.
Betting on sports?
If the US can steal a point from England in their neck-and-neck race – the US in particular have won 1-0-1 (WLD) against the Brits in their last two World Cup encounters – and win all three points against Iran then that puts the US in a great position to move forward.
I also suspect Wales could see some struggles. A mid-season World Cup could impact their older stars (Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey) and I’m not high on anyone else’s list.

For this reason I like to go into it United States qualify for Group B (+110). I personally think it’s a coin toss if manager Gregg Berhalter’s side progress, so I see a slight implied probability advantage.
However, I have a hard time imagining the USA running any lower than the round of 16. I’m pretty high up in Group A against both the Netherlands and Senegal, so no matter where USA end up, it’s going to be a tough fight to reach the quarterfinals.
Despite a disappointing Euro exit last year, the Netherlands are still unbeaten (W3-U1) since June 1, while Senegal are on a run to the Africa Cup of Nations final.
For that reason I will avoid everything beyond the round of 16.
