Chinese electric vehicle maker Zeekr has reportedly filed for a US initial public offering (IPO).
The IPO filing, first reported by Reuters, reveals that the Geely-owned company is targeting investments of more than $1 billion as part of plans to establish the Zeekr brand globally as a competitor to Tesla to bring up.
Zeekr reportedly filed IPO documents with US regulators in early December.
Citing sources with knowledge of the IPO, Reuters says Zeekr is targeting a valuation of more than $10 billion. A listing could take place as early as the second quarter of 2023, the news service claims.
The move to the New York listing comes after Zeekr confirmed it had filed an IPO proposal on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
By choosing New York as the venue for the IPO, Zeekr hopes for a higher valuation, according to Reuters.
Zeekr was officially launched in March 2021, a month before the Chinese automaker unveiled its first model, the 001 Fastback. Its second model, the 009 MPV, was unveiled last month.
Since 001 deliveries began in December 2021, Zeekr has shipped a total of 66,611 units.
A third production Zeekr model, a price-leading hatchback, is slated for launch in China in 2023.
