Boeing problems weigh on Dow futures

Boeing's MAX 9 bankruptcy is sparking market turmoil, with the company's shares falling around 8% in premarket trading.

Shares of supplier Spirit AeroSystems also experienced a sell-off as investigators looked into Friday's mid-air incident. Shares of Alaska Air, which operated the aborted flight, also fell.

The airline industry's dismal start to the year helped drag down stock futures, particularly contracts related to the Dow Industrials Index, of which Boeing is a component.

Stock index futures fell, with contracts tied to the Dow leading the decline. The S&P 500 lost 1.5% last week, breaking a long winning streak.

Benchmark U.S. bond yields remained above 4%. The yield on ten-year government bonds settled at around 4.04% on Friday.

Global markets largely fell. The Stoxx Europe 600 was in the red. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index fell nearly 2% and indices in mainland China fell to fresh multi-year lows.

Oil prices fell. Benchmark Brent crude fell more than 2% after Saudi Arabia announced price cuts.

To see in the next few days:
