Washington [US], April 9 (ANI/WAM): World Bank Group President David Malpass and IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva open Monday’s Spring Meetings with a discussion of the complex challenges facing the global economy. The 2023 Spring Convention will be held April 10-16 in Washington, DC, themed “The Way Forward: Building Resilience and Reshaping Development”.
According to the World Bank, three years after the start of the pandemic, uncertainties and risks are still weighing on the global economy. Persistent inflation, the cost of living crisis and slowing growth affect us all, but hit particularly hard the poor and vulnerable. Record high debt is holding developing countries back, and the effects of climate change are threatening lives and livelihoods around the world.
In addition, the crisis in Ukraine and geopolitical fragmentation make international coordination even more difficult. This conversation explores how to better finance global public goods and tackle these challenges together.
