VILLANOVA, Pa. (WPVI) — The Villanova Wildcats are just a day away from facing Kansas in the NCAA Final Four. Some families have found enough reason to celebrate.
As anticipation continued to build on campus, students and parents flocked to the bookstore for last-minute gear purchases.
“We just went in. All good sizes are sold out. So that’s usually saying something,” said Will Kennedy a sophomore. “There are only XXL’s.”
March Madness is also taking the restaurant world by storm. Many places have reported a rapid increase in customer numbers.
The additional business gives a nice boost to an industry that’s been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kelly’s Taproom owner Angie Mitchell said business was up 20%, forcing her to order even more supplies.
“We’ve been closed here at Kelly’s for a year due to COVID, so to have it back is huge,” Mitchell said. “Being able to celebrate with the locals and the community and just have some energy again.”
