WASHINGTON, DC (CBS, KYMA/KECY) – Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen spoke to Margaret Brennan on Face the Nation on Sunday and said “this is still being discussed in government” and that the timing of an announcement is “not yet certain.”
The issue came up during their meetings with officials from the People’s Republic of China.
“A goal of my trip was to explain that national security is something we cannot compromise on and will protect, even if it harms our own narrow economic interests. Brennan also asked Yellen about the economy in her country. She said it “is convinced there is a way to bring inflation down” without causing a recession, but says it is “not completely off the table yet”.
