To date, about 35% of the Ukrainian economy has been paralyzed due to the war.
This was said by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, speaking to ` News Ukraine, reports Ukrinform.
“Today, according to various estimates by many experts, we have lost between 30% and 50% of our economy. The projected decline in GDP is also 30-50%. Almost 35% of our economy is not functioning today. The budget is estimated at 50-70% of the peacetime level. At the same time, costs for social and humanitarian purposes and demining have increased dramatically,” Shmyhal said.

All of this results in a budget deficit of $5 billion a month, according to the prime minister. “It’s a lot of money and of course we ask our partners to support us and we get such support. We work closely with the IMF, the International Bank, the United States and the European Union. The UK is very supportive of us,” said Shmyhal.
He added that the direct damage inflicted on Ukraine’s infrastructure and economy is around $600 billion and the number is still growing.
According to the prime minister, more than 100 educational institutions and over 500 medical facilities were either completely destroyed or damaged. Also destroyed are 25,000 km of highways and several hundred bridges. Twelve international airports were damaged and more than 40 million square meters of living space was either damaged or destroyed.
The Prime Minister noted that companies lost more than 200 factories, while 17% ceased operations and 60% of companies were operating below pre-war capacities.

On May 17, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree establishing the national brand United24 to pool efforts of international partners in support of Ukraine.
