President Vladimir Putin was re-elected to a fifth term in office after a vote in which he faced no real opposition. Since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Russia has been the most heavily sanctioned country in the world. But Russia's economy has proven surprisingly resilient, as defense spending boosts industrial production and the country's oil and gas industry finds ways to circumvent Western sanctions and price caps. We take a closer look.
