BERLIN, Sept 28 (Reuters) – The economic weakness of the German economy should not be perceived as a structural problem, Chancellor Olaf Scholz said in an interview with Wirtschaftswoche on Thursday.
“It would be a serious mistake to draw the conclusion from this economic weakness that something is fundamentally wrong,” said Scholz, attributing the slowdown in the economy to the weakening of export markets.
However, he pointed out that Germany had benefited from globalization like no other country and said that the country should not question its export orientation.
“Germany is and remains economically strong and the world market leader with its unique interaction of large corporations and many small and medium-sized companies,” said the Chancellor.
