The US is on track to regain all 22 million jobs wiped out in the COVID-19 recession back in July, but the milestone will obscure wide disparities between industries and a crisis-altered economy.
Industries that have thrived during a pandemic that has long kept Americans working and playing at home — such as e-commerce, technology and professional services — have already met or surpassed their pre-COVID-19 payrolls.
