TAMPA, Fla. – This year started off with a lot of energy for football fans at Raymond James Stadium.
LSU and Wisconsin faced off in the Tampa Bay ReliaQuest Bowl. LSU took home the winning title to the cheers of fans throughout the stadium. It's a game that keeps people coming back year after year.
“This is my 18th year selling season tickets,” said football fan TJ Mcelaney.
Some fans traveled from Louisiana to attend the game. LSU fans said they were making it a vacation.
“I think it's a great idea to have bowl games here and bring in people from different parts of the country to bring in that money,” one LSU fan said.
ReliaQuest hosts the bowl game every year. While it's fun for the competition, it also benefits the local economy in Tampa Bay.
This year, Bowl glory brought in more than $1 billion.
ReliaQuest said the company has donated $3.5 million to charities since 2016. They vow to donate an additional $1 million to charity over the next two years.
ReliaQuest also donates money to universities. So far they have donated $170 million and plan to donate another $20 million to universities over the next three years. Fans were happy about the money that ReliaQuest gives back to the community.
“It makes me feel better about spending that much money,” said soccer fan Zachary VanDeman.
