According to a Treasury Department macroeconomic forecast released on Tuesday, this year’s economic growth is expected to reach 3.8 percent, while annual inflation is expected to stand at 9.1 percent.

The government on Tuesday approved a multiannual financial plan for 2022-2025, which includes an updated convergence programme, to be handed over to the European Commission and European Council by April 30.

“In accordance with the assumed scenario, Poland’s GDP is expected to grow by 3.8 percent in 2022 and decrease to 3.2 percent in 2023,” wrote the Ministry of Finance.

“In 2024 the economy will grow by 3.0 percent and in 2025 by 3.1 percent,” she added.

Writing that Poland is a country with a low unemployment rate, the ministry said unemployment, calculated according to Population Economic Activity Research (BAEL), “will fall from 3.4 percent in 2021 to 2.7 percent in 2022 “.

The ministry also acknowledged that the rapid economic recovery was accompanied by rising inflation, but explained that its rise was mainly caused by external and geopolitical factors, notably energy prices.

“Poland’s annual inflation is expected to drop to 9.1 percent in 2022, 7.8 percent in 2023, 4.8 percent in 2024 and 3.5 percent in 2025,” read the statement released by the ministry.

According to the Central Statistical Office, CPI inflation in March was 11.0 percent in Poland.
