OPEC oil is doing poorly for the global economy, says US expert Yellen-FT

Oct 9 (Reuters) – US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said a decision by the OPEC+ group to cut oil production was “unhelpful and unwise” for the global economy, particularly in emerging markets, the Financial Times said on Sunday.

“We are very concerned about developing countries and the problems they face,” Yellen told the newspaper in an interview.

She also criticized allies for being slow in providing financial aid to Ukraine.

“The pace of remittances to Ukraine is far too slow,” Yellen added, noting that some countries that had pledged aid had failed to disburse it.
