I am writing in response to the letter to the editor (“Biden, Trump and the Economy”) published in the newspaper on February 18th.
First, no president controls the economy. The question should not be what is going on in the economy, but rather what Joe Biden and/or Donald Trump have done or not done to make the economy better or worse.
The recent surge in inflation from which we are recovering was the direct result of the economic stimulus implemented to counteract the economic impact of the pandemic.
These were not individual acts of Trump or Biden, but of Congress, and they were supported by both presidents. In my opinion these actions went too far, but that's all in hindsight.
President Richard Nixon attempted to control inflation through wage and price controls. How did that work?

Keep the Brain Bus running
More than 827,000 Floridians care for loved ones with dementia. We need to ensure they have access to services like the Alzheimer's Association Brain Bus.
As a long-time Alzheimer's Association volunteer, honoring a family connection to Alzheimer's disease, and now transitioning into my nursing career as a newly qualified nurse, my support for the Brain Bus is multifaceted. Individuals and families affected by Alzheimer's disease are among the most at risk, especially those living in remote areas. Voters need and deserve to be educated about their resources, regardless of their challenges or location.
The Brain Bus consists of two mobile units that reach Florida residents wherever they are. Employees provide information about early detection, risk reduction and care tips. I'm asking Rep. Peggy Gossett-Seidman, R-Highland Beach, and Sen. Tina Polsky, D-Boca Raton, to fund the Brain Bus Project in the amount of $491,614.

It can happen here too
All Americans should care about the plight of Alexei Navalny and countless others before him who lost their lives because of a ruthless authoritarian regime, Vladimir Putin.
This country is on the same path under the authoritarian leadership of former President Donald Trump and his Republican allies and supporters. To say “that can’t happen here” is to bury your head in the sand.
This can and will be the case unless we vote against those who have no respect for our democracy and for us, the people.

An unfair vendetta against Trump
Will we become a banana republic with an organized vendetta against former President Donald Trump?
When a political party uses the judicial system to stop the other party's likely candidate from running, Denmark smacks of corruption.
Isn't it ironic that Trump trials tend to take place in overly Democratic cities in the expectation that the “right” guilty verdict will be made against Trump? In this way, the former Soviet Union and other dictatorships retained power and suppressed resistance.
Whether you are for or against Trump, I think the public can see the injustice of this Democratic vendetta. It has evoked empathy for Trump's candidacy – the exact opposite of what they expected when they embarked on this disastrous tactic. It's reminiscent of what the head of Stalin's KGB once said: “Show me the crime and I'll show you the man.” That's what the Democrats did.
