The carbon neutrality sector saw the fastest increase in job postings in 2022
Despite the shocks of the COVID-19 pandemic, China’s emerging economic sectors have shown strong resilience and vitality, with booming demand for and supply of talent in the labor market.
Even though overall hiring demand in 2022 saw a year-over-year fall, job opportunities in emerging sectors like carbon neutrality and new-energy vehicles rose significantly last year, according to a new report.
The field of carbon neutrality saw the highest growth rate in the number of job postings in 2022, which almost quadrupled compared to the previous year. The number in the NEV sector has nearly tripled, while the number in the electronic chip industry has grown by nearly 150 percent in 2022, according to the report by Chinese professional networking platform Maimai.
In particular, the artificial intelligence and emerging biomedicine industries also saw rising demand for talent as the number of job postings rose 57.6 percent and 39.2 percent, respectively.
Against this background, more and more people in China are turning to jobs in booming new economy sectors.
