How Taylor Swift’s visit to Denver will impact the local economy

DENVER (KDVR) – Financial experts estimate that the two Taylor Swift concerts this weekend will bring an estimated $40 million to $50 million to Denver’s economy.

“Well, I think that’s bigger than Garth Brooks,” said Kishore Kulkarni, Distinguished Professor of Economics at the Metropolitan State University of Denver.

Kulkarni estimates that the Friday and Saturday night concerts will exceed the amount of money Brooks generated a few years ago when the country star also played at Empower Field at Mile High.

Kulkarni factored spending on parking, food and lodging into the overall economic impact.

“I think these potential impacts are welcome impacts for the city,” he added.

Both concerts have long been sold out. Kulkarni estimates that Swift will earn $5 million to $7 million per concert.
