GOP nominee Bo Hines: Focus on economy

(NewsNation) — Bo Hines, the Republican nominee for North Carolina’s 13th congressional district, told NewsNation’s Robert Sherman that economic issues are resonating with voters this year.

“I think we should talk a lot about the economy,” Hines Sherman said during an interview Saturday at the Texas Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Dallas. “We are in a Biden recession caused by Biden inflation. … people in my district are suffering. Your wallets hurt. They pay $4 a gallon for gas and go to the grocery store and pay 20 percent more for meat. It’s not sustainable and we need people to actually talk about the economic issues.”

He argued that getting inflation under control must be a top priority for his party.

“We need to stop government spending,” he argued, pointing to the reconciliation bill going through the Senate.

Hines, a former college football player, won the GOP nomination for the district in the May 17 North Carolina primary. He faces Democrat Wiley Nickel, a current member of the state Senate, in November’s general election.
