Get discounted economy and business class flights to Europe

The latest Flying Blue promo rewards are here. These can be booked until the end of October and are valid for flights until the end of March 2024. As is often the case with these offers, Flying Blue advertises reduced economy prices, but reduced business class award flights are also available.

The deal

  • Get discounted award prices with Air France/KLM Flying Blue Promo Rewards when you fly to/from the following cities in the US and Canada:
    • Chicago
    • San Francisco
    • Houston
    • Montreal
    • Ottawa
  • Direct link to the offer.

key terms

  • Book by October 31, 2023 for flights by March 31, 2024.

Quick thoughts

The lowest price is 11,250 miles each way from Chicago and Montreal. An initial search from Chicago O’Hare to Amsterdam found many discounted award tickets available, but at a slightly higher price of 12,750 miles each way. However, Promo Rewards prices tend to fluctuate somewhat depending on which cities you are flying to and/or from. So I imagine there are other cities in Europe where you can book economy awards at this lower price of 11,250 miles.

It’s strange, but Flying Blue doesn’t do a good job of selling these promo reward offers. That’s because only economy prices are listed there, and in some cases this month, premium economy prices are also listed. The reason this is strange is because they also offer discounts on business class award prices. As you’d expect, availability is far less in business class, but it’s there depending on how flexible you are with your schedule. From Chicago to Amsterdam, for example, there are only a few dates in October and November, but many in January.

As a reminder, to get the calendar view shown in the screenshots above, leave the date blank when searching for rewards and prices will be displayed by month. The downside is that prices often differ by a day for some reason. So if you click through and don’t see the lower price you’re expecting, check the day before and/or after and it’ll probably show up there.

There’s a new Air France/KLM Amex offer that gives you 20,000 bonus Membership Rewards points when you spend over $1,000. That only applies to flights from the US, but if you’re booking one-way awards from the US for some of you, the associated taxes and fees could well end up costing you $1,000 or more, which is the bonus points from the Amex should trigger offer.
