ROME, Aug 30 (Reuters) – Berlin is ready to discuss a price cap system for gas supplies at European level, a source said, citing a text message the German economy minister sent to his colleagues across Europe.
The source, who read the message and asked not to be named due to the sensitivity of the matter, said Robert Habeck had sent a message to European energy ministers indicating Berlin was ready to lower the price cap on a for September planned EU energy summit to discuss 9.
A spokeswoman for the Federal Ministry of Economics did not want to comment on internal communications.
