“We will deliver more,” said Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck on Thursday at a meeting of the G7 finance ministers at Neuhardenberg Castle in the state of Brandenburg.
He added that “arms supplies will depend on how the war develops”.
Ukraine needs reconstruction money
The German official told his counterparts that Ukraine needed $350 billion to rebuild, according to Kiev’s own estimates.
“The reconstruction of Ukraine requires more than public money can provide,” he stressed.
Mr. Habeck called for the creation of a “global fund with money from private investors, hedge funds and so on”. He also spoke of plans to “reuse trade to stabilize Ukraine.”
Also on this day, the German Economics Minister met his Ukrainian counterpart. Mr. Habeck struck an optimistic note, expressing that he saw the possibility of victory for democracy in Ukraine.
