Ensenada-San Diego Ferry to start in June – NBC 7 San Diego

One of the triggers for tourism between Baja California and California is about to take off.

The state Secretary of Commerce has confirmed that a ferry from Ensenada to San Diego will be available later this year.

The boat is said to have a capacity of 300 people.

“We hope to begin the Ensenada-San Diego ferry by June. Meetings are already taking place with all sectors, federal and state, involved with this, as well as with the United States,” said Kurt Honold Morales, Baja California Secretary of Commerce.

Honold Morales explained that the cost hasn’t been defined yet, but it could be around 500 Mexican pesos, so around $28.

“You don’t have to sign anything, it’s a cruise-like transport and nothing is needed, just your travel documents. And in the future, the ferry will also be able to transport cars,” he said.

This Ensenada-San Diego ferry could strengthen binational ties.

Miguel Aguiñiga, Minister of Tourism, mentioned that “the ferry is coming to give visitors or people who want to do business between Ensenada and San Diego another option to make them more agile, we know other destinations where this The concept was very successful and we hope it will be the same.”

The boat used for this tour was purchased in Vancouver, Canada and is still in that country but is expected to arrive in Baja California soon.
