KIMBALL, Tenn. (WDEF) – Mueller is a manufacturing company that makes fire hydrants, water meters and many other water products.
Since expanding three years ago, the company has brought hundreds of jobs to Marion County.

“Mueller Co. was founded 166 years ago by a gentleman named Hieronymus Mueller,” said Daniel McSpadden, director of production. “Founded in Decatur, Illinois in 1857, the Mueller Co. has offices throughout the United States and internationally. This location here in Kimball, Tennessee was part of a $50 million project for a consolidation effort that combined multiple locations into this one area here. And also create good-paying jobs for the people of Marion County and the surrounding communities.”
“Mueller is a major infrastructure supplier of water valves and, as you know, serves homes and businesses throughout the industry,” said Aaron Burden, Plant Manager. “This system is particularly project-oriented. We do a lot of the so-called plant work, for example for the infrastructure of water treatment plants and similar companies. We supply valves for their manufacture, as well as large tunnels and other infrastructure.”
About 250 people work at the Kimball site, according to Burden.
“I think we’re at almost 5,000 people worldwide. And in Chattanooga, Tennessee Valley, we’re exactly like a thousand people,” he said.
“I really liked it from the moment I walked in here because it was a good environment,” said Machinist Rebecca Wilson. “I really like that I had the opportunity to develop myself here. I basically started from scratch and learned so much here. And I just love being able to learn everything I can.”
In fact, according to Burden, Mueller is a leading employer in Marion County.
“We offer a fair living wage to people who don’t have degrees in various skill areas,” he said. “We have assembly positions, welding positions and machinist positions. In addition, we also have professionals with degrees in Engineering Supply Chain and Finance across the pay scales.”
“With today’s skills that we’ve accumulated over time, it’s difficult to find the skills we’re looking for,” said executive producer Scotty Reed. “So we’re ready to build the future, to build our own. We look forward to getting people to learn very skilled and well-paying jobs.”
