Is November 8 important enough for the future of our community, our students, and our company?
New Ulm’s professional and technical training offerings include advanced welding, milling, fabrication, advanced small gas engine/quad repair, advanced carpentry, automotive/car body and carpentry.
Last year, more than 120 students took CTE Center courses. Many students who have taken CTE courses have joined the local workforce, holding jobs in small gas engine repair, welding, carpentry and graphic arts. Some others went on to technical schools to become welders, mechanics and machinists.
More than 60 students are taking CTE classes this fall, including students from the Minnesota Valley Lutheran School.
The CTE Center is supported by local businesses in the manufacturing, manufacturing, construction, commercial banking, agriculture and automotive sectors. You all know the importance of strong community-school partnerships.
In addition, many additional technical classes are offered in the high school, most of which are intended as introductory courses: Basic Timbers, Home Construction, Welding, Introductory Mechanics, etc. A full complement of Agricultural, Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) and Business classes are also offered.
For many years, our local businesses have struggled to recruit staff to support the essential services our community needs and depends on. The CTE Center and high school classes are moving our community in the right direction and will continue to do so for many years to come. This is our change to make a difference for every resident in the community.
