Cruisin’ the Coast returns and fuels the local economy

With all the cruisers coming, the rooms on the coast are booked.

News 25 spoke to Coastal Mississippi executive director Judy Young, and she jokingly said if you have friends or family you don’t want to be with you, there’s still time to secure a booking.

Although Young emphasized the expected turnout for this year, they want to do it quickly.

The popular event attracts a lot of people and when you compare cruisers to other holidaymakers they tend to make the most of their time on the coast. Young said: “Most holidaymakers stay around two and a half to three and a half days. They stay in our community for an average of six days. So they can enjoy Southern hospitality, which they have rated as excellent, and 90 percent plan to return.”

Last year’s event had a $33 million economic impact on our area, with each non-local cruiser spending approximately $450 per day.
