Brian Dee:
Well, look, let’s take a step back.
About six months ago the President came out and said what we need to see is a transition to more steady and stable growth where we have resilience in the jobs market and we bring inflation down. Many people predicted at the time that this wasn’t possible and that we might actually see the economy slow down and slide into recession.
What we have seen six months later is that the labor market has remained resilient and as you said the unemployment rate remains at historic lows and inflation has come down over the last six months. We’re making progress there. So we can absolutely keep making progress because we’ve seen it. We’ve seen it for the past six months. We’ve seen it too in the last three months.
We must continue this progress. But here it comes down to priorities. The President is now focused on implementing some of the historic legislation passed last year that will bring Americans further price cuts on health care, prescription drugs and clean energy.
These things are in the pipeline and may help people and their wallets in the coming months.
