A handful of financial analysts predicted the U.S. economy would enter a recession in either 2023 or 2024. The recession predictions were made by leading global banks such as JP Morgan and Standard Chartered, among others. However, the US economy avoided recession in 2023 and is now looking ahead to the outlook for 2024.

Despite ongoing developments, financial analysts are increasingly confident that the US economy will avoid a recession in 2024. The optimism comes after the Federal Reserve cut inflation from 6.5% to 3.1% over the past 15 months. Inflation in the US is cooling, but has not yet fallen below the 2% mark.

Additionally, consumer spending is at its highest as the holiday season saw a 2% increase in spending. Additionally, the data shows that the supply chain remains intact across the country and the labor shortage in the U.S. is easing. Both small and large companies reported no shortage of input materials and this is the best figure since the pandemic.
All of these positive developments lead financial analysts to believe that the US economy will avoid recession this year. Therefore, 2024 could be a safe year for the stock market, gold, oil and commodities as the US economy could avoid a recession.
