The Dallas Morning News and the University of Texas at Tyler on Sunday released a new poll asking Texas voters their thoughts on the November midterm election, including the race between Gov. Greg Abbott and Beto O’Rourke and other issues affecting the state.

The poll, conducted Aug. 1-7, polled 1,365 registered voters and has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.8 percentage points.

Voters were also asked about candidates in other statewide races this November, including attorney Ken Paxton and his Democratic challenger Rochelle Garza, and whether they approve of the state’s elected leaders and President Joe Biden.

The survey included questions about the Texas economy, gun control, abortion, border security, the power grid, education, marijuana legalization, and whether the state is going in the right direction.
