ORLANDO, Fla. – The Biden administration announced that as of midnight June 12, international travelers coming to the United States will no longer require a negative COVID-19 test to enter the country.
Travelers heading to Cancun from Orlando International Airport said they were relieved to hear COVID-19 testing restrictions on travel had been lifted.

Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings and Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer were two of 38 mayors across the country who wrote a letter urging the Biden administration to drop the mandate.
Demings said, “I believe this will have a positive impact on our economy, it will help increase international business in our region; If we do that, I estimate we could see a 20 percent increase in international travel, and when they come to the US, we know they’re coming to Florida.”
A spokesman for Visit Orlando told News 6 in a statement that they were encouraged by the move and the potential impact on tourism in the area.
“This news comes at just the right time for the summer season – one of the most anticipated travel times – and we can expect an increasing number of visitors from travelers from all over the world, a thriving business and a positive impact on our economy,” said Denise Spiegel , Senior Director of Public Relations for Visit Orlando.
