The fifth season of reality show “Divas Hit the Road,” in which popular female celebrities travel to various destinations, recently aired on Hunan Satellite TV and online video-sharing platform Mango TV. This season, Chinese actresses Qin Hailu, Qin Lan, Xin Zhilei, Dilraba and Zhao Zhaoyi as well as actors Wang Anyu and Hu Xianxu went on a trip to Saudi Arabia, Croatia and Iceland.
They explored the beautiful landscapes and diverse cultures of these countries and learned about the community projects related to the Belt and Road Initiative.
These celebrities began their journey from the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Beijing and traveled to key BRI cooperation projects and companies to experience the changes that China brought to the countries. In addition, they studied the local customs and traditions of the places they visited and made new friends.

The show has sparked widespread discussion on Chinese social media platforms about the cultures of the countries involved in the BRI. Chinese netizens show great enthusiasm for Saudi Arabian cuisine and scenic beauty. After the broadcast of the program, searches for “Saudi” and “Saudi Arabia” on the online travel service provider Qunar increased by 772 percent.
The Chinese Embassy in Saudi Arabia has endorsed the program, saying it presents the comprehensive concept of the BRI from a vivid, relatable and intimate perspective.
