Hollywood's finest felt like a million bucks on the Oscars red carpet – but how much did they hand over to their stylists?
An anonymous source told NewsNation's Paula Froelich that a star can pay between $60,000 and $100,000 for a stylist to get them ready for a single event, including the Oscars — and that doesn't even include the cost of dresses or accessories included.
The eye-popping amount is more than what some employed Hollywood stylists have received in the past.
“Stylists used to get paid $10,000 a day and there were only a few of us,” Wayne Scott Lukas, who has styled Hollywood legends like Tina Turner and Janet Jackson, told NewsNation.
“What has changed is that now everyone is a stylist – undercutting people who actually know clothes and fashion.”

He claimed that the novice stylists “don't have the relationships with couture houses” that long-time professionals do – even if they charge up to ten times what a stylist has earned in the past.
Lukas also lamented the occasional “ugly fashion” brought to the red carpet because they receive “commissions” from designers he would never dare accept.
“They put celebrity power in their pockets and do business anywhere,” he explained. “They get free bags and clothes in exchange for wearing their stuff on celebrities (in addition to being paid by celebrities).”
He added: “If I accepted a gift or an order, I lost my integrity with my customer.”

Instead, he hopes clients learn to be more critical of the stylists they hire to dress them, claiming that newer stylists are reportedly not working in the client's best interest, but only for their own “financial gain.”
“If your creativity is based on transactions… the only winner is the stylist who received the money or gift,” he added.
