Skybound at Comic-Con International: San Diego 2023

Skybound Entertainment, the developer-led, multiplatform entertainment company, is gearing up for its debut appearance at this year’s Comic-Con International: San Diego. The company has exciting plans to celebrate the 20th anniversary of two of its popular franchises, The Walking Dead and Invincible. Skybound will be making waves at the event with a packed schedule of exclusive panel discussions, celebrity appearances, playable game demos and more.

Exclusive panels and events

Skybound offers a range of exciting panels, special events, performances and live stream programs for each day of the convention. Fans who are unable to attend in person can follow the livestream program from the comfort of their own home on Twitch.tv/skybound and YouTube.com/@Skybound. Here’s a breakdown of the daily events:

Wednesday July 19th

• Skybound’s first-ever appearance at the SDCC exhibition floor will be at the two-story booth. Preview night will feature a special celebration of the recently announced partnership between Skybound and toy and games company Hasbro. Attendees can join a live session of the hit board game Travel by Trolley, which will showcase a brand new vacation expansion pack.
• The Merchandise Booth is open offering exclusive SDCC gear in fan-favorite Skybound houses. Highlights include The Walking Dead custom skate decks from up-and-coming artist Bear Walker, AR-enabled pins for The Walking Dead and Invincible from Pinfinity, and the official Burger Mart box featuring exclusive Invincible merchandise and Slabs comic cover trading cards from Yesterdays , with a chance to earn a slab signed by Robert Kirkman.
• Each day of the convention, fans can find a special cover version of the Invincible comics, commemorating the 20th anniversary of the acclaimed superhero series. Renowned comic artists like Greg Capullo, Tradd Moore, Andy Kubert, Justine Florentino and Rose Besch will present favorite characters like Invincible, Omni-Man, Atom Eve and Battle Beast.

Thursday, July 20th

• WrestleQuest: The Wrestlefication of an RPG – This panel, taking place from 4:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. in Room 6A, will feature team members from Mega Cat Studios and surprising legendary wrestlers. They will discuss the process of bringing traditional JRPG mechanics to the wrestling ring. Wrestling legends Jake “The Snake” Roberts, Sgt. Slaughter and Jeff Jarrett will be among the panellists, alongside Mega Cat Studios’ James Deighan and Zack Manko.
• There will be autograph sessions and appearances by well-known personalities at the Skybound stand. Travis Beacham, creator of the hit Audible original series Impact Winter, will join Skybound chairman Robert Kirkman for a chat. Greg Nicotero and artist Becky Cloonan from the Skybound anthology comic series Creepshow, published by Image Comics, will also make special appearances and signings. Wrestling legends Jeff Jarret, Jake “The Snake” Roberts and Sgt. Slaughter will be in attendance and the Mega Cat Studios development team will present the gameplay of the highly anticipated WrestleQuest.
• An offsite activation called “Impact Winter” includes boxed trolleys that transport SDCC attendees through the Gaslamp and an exclusive, immersive, VIP-only dining experience called “The Feast,” complete with engaging audio and tantalizing food.

Friday 21st July

• Invincible 20th Anniversary Panel – In celebration of the best superhero comic in the universe, this panel will be held from 4:30pm to 5:30pm in Room 6BCF. Invincible creators Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley are joined by Skybound Animation’s Head of Studio Marge Dean and Skybound’s Creative Director Mike Rogers to look back on the franchise’s journey and share insights into what Ahead lies worlds of comics, animation, video games, tabletop games and more.
• A Q&A with the cast and creator of Prime Video’s Invincible – Executive Producer Robert Kirkman and members of the cast and crew from the hit animated series “Invincible” on Prime Video will join this panel, which will take place from 5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. in Room 6BCF. They will discuss upcoming storylines and breaking news on the highly anticipated second season. Based on the seminal comic by Kirkman, Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley, the series features a star cast including Steven Yeun, Sandra Oh, Zazie Beetz and JK Simmons.
• This is NOT a special showing of Invincible Season 2. – This event will take place from 10:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. in Room 6A and will offer fans an exclusive look at Invincible Season 2.

Saturday 22nd July

• Transformers and GI Joe return in the Energon universe – From 4:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. in Room 6A, Skybound will present an exciting panel featuring superstar creators Robert Kirkman, Daniel Warren Johnson, Joshua Williamson and Sean Mackiewicz. They unveil the mysteries behind Image/Skybound’s highly anticipated 2023 comics and introduce the Transformers and GI Joe franchises in The Energon Universe.
• At the Skybound booth, legendary actress Katee Sackhoff will join the livestream to talk about her new podcast, Blah Blah Blah with Katee Sackhoff. Artist Bear Walker will be hosting an autograph session and showcasing his brand new The Walking Dead skate deck. Additionally, Daniel Warren Johnson and Joshua Williamson will host an autograph session for The Energon Universe.

Sunday 23 July

• At the Skybound booth, fans can enjoy a variety of activities including an autograph session with Impact Winter creator Travis Beacham, a live demonstration of the upcoming tabletop game Kiss the Goblin, a cosplay contest and a special session hosted by Skybound CEO David Alpert will be moderated and will provide fans with the opportunity to own a part of Skybound.

Playable game demos and exclusive merchandise

Throughout the convention, the Skybound booth will offer fans the opportunity to listen to and play highly anticipated audio series, video games and tabletop games. Highlights include:

• impact winter – Fans can visit individual sound bays at the Skybound booth to hear highlights of Season 1 and previews of Season 2 of Audible’s best-selling original series. The second season of this post-apocalyptic drama, a collaboration between Audible, Skybound and Anonymous Content, will be available exclusively on Audible on July 13th.
• WrestleQuest – This upcoming RPG adventure features a licensed roster of iconic wrestling legends and is slated for a worldwide release on August 8th. Players take on the role of a young wrestling hopeful who sets out on a quest to become one of the greats by showing off his wrestling skills. The game pays homage to wrestling legends like Randy Savage “Macho Man”, Booker T, Andre The Giant, Jake “The Snake” Roberts, Diamond Dallas Page, Jeff Jarrett, and Mega Cat Studios’ James Deighan and Zack Manko.
• Invincible and The Walking Dead dice games – Fans can play two new card and dice games, set for release in Q4 2023, to coincide with the release of Season 2 of the highly anticipated Invincible series on Amazon Prime. Both games feature iconic illustrations from Skybound’s flagship comic universes, as well as clever mechanics and exciting push-your-luck gameplay.
