Second batch of Jeffrey Epstein documents released relating to celebrities and others on his island

Jeffrey Epstein was a former New York financier who amassed a fortune that allowed him to associate with celebrities, politicians, billionaires and academic stars in the United States and abroad.

The millionaire's high-profile life brought him into contact with former presidents, real estate moguls and the country's elite, often taking these individuals on trips to private Caribbean islands. It was then learned that at least some of these trips were being used for nefarious and illegal activities.

In 2005, Epstein was arrested in Palm Beach, Florida, after being accused of paying a 14-year-old girl for sex.

Dozens of other underage girls came forward with similar allegations of sexual abuse, but prosecutors ultimately allowed Epstein to plead guilty in 2008, even though he was a single victim.

He served 13 months in prison as part of a release program.

Some famous acquaintances left Epstein after his conviction, including former Presidents Bill Clinton and Donald Trump, but many did not.

Even though Epstein was a convicted pedophile, he continued to socialize among the rich and famous.

He continued his lavish lifestyle for another decade until federal prosecutors in New York charged Epstein with sex trafficking in 2019.

While awaiting trial, Epstein was found dead in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York on August 10, 2019, in an apparent suicide.

After Epstein's death, prosecutors pursued charges against his former caregiver and friend, Ghislaine Maxwell. She was convicted in 2021 for helping him recruit his underage victims who were sexually exploited by him or his friends. She is serving a 20-year prison sentence.
