CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard University's Hasty Pudding Theatricals has named Barry Keoghan, best known for his roles in “Dunkirk,” “The Killing of a Sacred Deer,” “Eternals” and “The Banshees of Inisherin,” as the recipient of the award. Man of the Year 2024”.
Keoghan recently starred in the psychological thriller comedy Saltburn and can be seen in the series Masters of the Air, a World War II drama about bomber crews.
The Man of the Year celebrations will take place on February 2nd. Hasty Pudding Theatricals will host a roast for Keoghan and present him with his pudding pot. Keoghan will then attend a performance of Hasty Pudding Theatricals' 175th production of “Heist Heist Baby!”
“With his experience as both a superhero and a supervillain, Barry Keoghan is the perfect choice to earn his Pudding Pot,” said Man of the Year Coordinator Aidan Golub.
Hasty Pudding Theatricals, which was founded in 1844 and describes itself as the third oldest theater company in the world, has presented the Man of the Year award since 1967. Last year's honoree was Bob Odenkirk.
Odenkirk reprized his role as Saul Goodman in “Better Call Saul,” which earned him three Critics Choice TV Awards and multiple Emmy, Golden Globe and SAG Award nominations.
Previous Man of the Year Award winners include Clint Eastwood, Tom Hanks, Robert De Niro, Harrison Ford, Samuel L. Jackson and Ryan Reynolds.
The awards are presented to individuals who have made lasting and impactful contributions to the world of entertainment.
Hasty Pudding Theatricals' 2024 Woman of the Year award, which dates back to 1951, has not yet been announced.
Jennifer Coolidge, who enjoyed a career resurgence after her Emmy-winning role as Tanya McQuoid-Hunt in HBO's “The White Lotus,” received the award last year. Previous winners of the Woman of the Year Award include Meryl Streep, Viola Davis and Debbie Reynolds.
