Ryan Reynolds and Chrissy Teigen have become aware of an Oklahoma government office social media account. It all came down to finding a voice. “The most viral stuff we’ve ever put on our Twitter account came from a random idea someone had and we’re cool why not?” said Sarah Southerland, Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation. The viral tweets have caught the attention of A-list celebrities like Ryan Reynolds. Chrissy Teigen liked a tweet warning of an invasive silver carp in Halloween candy. A short video made Game Warden Wade Farrar a TikTok star. “I think this kind of exposure could definitely engage kids to learn more about hunting. Fishing, maybe just fishing in general and the safety of it, but I’m also hoping it will spark someone’s interest in doing what I do for a living,” said Farrar. Southerland said that beyond the educational impact, it’s also cool to create content that people really care about.” To be with people and connect with people about things they care about, even if it’s silly, themselves if it’s a meme or even a joke that people care, and people resonate with that and they appreciate it,” Southerland said.
