No be celebrities spoil Nigeria, leave them alone, Yul Edochie cries out

By: Aliyu Abdulkareem

Nollywood actor Yul Edochie on Sunday asked Nigerians to leave celebrities alone as they are not INEC and cannot determine election results.

He made this known through his Instagram page, saying that even celebrities are fighting over the candidate’s choice.

Referring to a post by influencer Tunde Ednut about Dangote congratulating the President-elect Tinubu, he said many people in the comments section praised Dangote for its good business strategies.

“But if it was a celebrity who congratulated Tinubu, insults will be flying up and down now. e go dey collect woto woto.

“Even celebrities are fighting over the choice of candidate. Nigerian Zukwanuike. Una too.

“I know the outcome of the election still hurts a lot of people and it’s understandable, but we all need to calm down. Leave celebrities alone.
No celebrities spoil Nigeria.

“Everyone has the right to support any candidate of their choice. No matter how good your candidate is, he or she will never be everyone’s candidate.

“You have to get used to it and respect each other’s decisions. This is democracy. Celebrities are not INEC.

“Also note that not all support is given because of the money. Some people support a candidate because they believe in the candidate’s vision, some support because the candidate has supported them in the past, some do it simply because they like the candidate.

“But whatever the reason, everyone’s decision must be respected.

“Furthermore, celebrities are not decision makers in the country. The decision-makers are the rulers. So there’s no point in dragging celebrities along based on leaders’ decisions. It’s a waste of time and energy. Wrongly set priorities.

“When a political officer is not doing well, hold him or her accountable. It is every citizen’s duty to demand good governance, not just the duty of celebrities.

“Let’s stop fighting each other and learn to live together peacefully, regardless of our different views and choices. Love and peace always,” he wrote.
