Over the past five years, The Match has featured everyone from Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Phil Mickelson to stars from other sports such as Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, Charles Barkley and Steph Curry.
With eight editions of the televised benefit golf event now eight editions lined up – Curry and Golden State Warriors teammate Klay defeated / lost against the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl-winning tandem of Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce on Thursday night – we had to think about it… who should be next?

Spieth and Thomas are tied 8-2-0 in the Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup and won in their match debut against Woods and McIlroy in December. They’re both perfectly capable of talking a little, but what if they took on two of the greatest trash talkers of all time? I doubt we’ll ever see his airness in a match and Mickelson’s prospects have taken a hit after his move to LIV Golf but if anyone can talk on the course it’s these two.

Every Tuesday during football season, Rodgers attends The Pat McAfee Show, which has become a must-watch every week. The two have a great relationship, complement each other incredibly well and are guaranteed to put on a show no matter who is on the other team.

Jessica vs. Nelly: A family affair that’s sure to add some interest to the holiday reunions in the Korda household.

Okay, this is a little different, but it would definitely be fun. Both popular golf podcasts feature a diverse group of amateur players with diverse skill sets and personalities. While Team No Laying Up may have an advantage in the talent department, Team ForePlay might be best suited for match conditions. Each of them boasts a strong and loyal following, making for a day that golf Twitter and YouTube can only dream of (for now).
Romo has tried his hand at pro golf and is clearly comfortable on the live mic given his current position as senior NFL analyst at CBS. The other three competed in the match and were successful, most notably Rodgers and Brady, who won the last all-quarterback duel in June 2022. The ratings and the golf itself will be better with pros in the mix, but this group could achieve a 12-hole carry over with ease.

The night before her Beauty and the Beast exhibition, Daly told organizers he wasn’t well enough to compete, leaving the event on hold. They’ve made an effort to include Jerry Kelly, but it would be fun to revisit this match now that there’s some rivalry.
