Megyn Kelly Blasts Celebrities, Media Who ‘Can’t Conceptualize’ Struggles Of Average Voters

Kelly criticized several celebrities and media figures for forgetting what it's like to engage with working-class struggles and explained on “The Megyn Kelly Show” why average Americans “don't care” about the Republican's social media posts 2024 presidential candidates care and favor his policies.”

“That’s why they — on the left — don’t understand why people aren’t completely outraged by Trump’s latest comment of the day. The latest tweet or Truth Social says, “I don't get it. How could they vote for him?” I told the audience that I met Barbra Streisand years ago, it was 2016… [S]He said to me, 'How, how, how did the miners vote for Donald Trump?'” Kelly began.

“I said, 'Barbra, Hillary promised to take their jobs. She made it a pillar of her campaign to eradicate coal,” she continued. “And, you know, Barbra Streisand lives in a multimillion-dollar cliffside estate in the Santa Barbara area. And she is, her life is made to last forever. She has more money than she could ever spend in the lifetime of her children or grandchildren. They can’t get out of their bubble.”

Kelly criticized other celebrities against Trump, such as actor Robert De Niro, who she said was “the same” as actress Barbara Streisand, who was “decked in acting awards and red carpet ceremonies.”

“That’s not how the people you met live,” Kelly said. “They’re worried about their paychecks. About their food, about their healthcare. And they don’t give a damn about his tweets or all the supposedly terrible things DeNiro sees in Donald Trump.”

“I think about the media and the fact that people like Rachel Maddow and Joy Reid are so far removed from anyone who actually lives that way that they can't even think about it. You can't imagine it anymore. It’s just so far away for them,” Kelly said.

Kelly said she believes she has the advantage of never straying too far from the problems of average Americans. The radio host said her stepfather was a plumber and her mother was a nurse. She revealed that her sister was a teacher who became a drug addict and said her family had “a lot of problems that a lot of our working-class friends have.”

“It helps to stay connected to people who live this life and work hard to make sure they can eat dinner and pay the health care bills and have to watch what's in the pot, er, in the checking account every month will come. If you stray too far from that, you end up like Joy Reid, Rachel Maddow and Mika Brzezinski,” Kelly warned.

“You like your life like Mika and Joe in New Canaan, Connecticut, and you're surrounded only by the most fabulous. “You don’t bat an eyelid at the $100,000 photo with the presidents or the $250,000 to $500,000 meeting with them,” she continued. “And you forget what actually bothers people. You're obsessed with things like skin color, gender, climate, right? You become obsessed with it and then don't understand anyone who disagrees. It is sad.”
