It’s time to do less – and that includes fewer salon appointments. So why not forgo the rich auburn tones and instead opt for vibrant copper, a softer, easier-to-care-for take on the hue.

While deep, full-bodied reds suit the cozy winter vibe, they also need constant touch-ups. The beauty of leaning on inhabited copper in the summer is that it has the faded, sun-kissed effect and doesn’t require as much effort in maintenance.

Lived-in Copper already has a prominent following. Daisy Jones & The Six actress Riley Keough has just swapped out her solid purple locks for a lighter copper, which can appear golden in places depending on the light.

According to Luci Green, colorist at London salon Larry King, Riley’s new shade is a sun-kissed version of Cowgirl Copper, a shade that reflects the caramel tones of leather. “Ask your colorist about copper highlights — highlights that weave a mix of honey, caramel, cinnamon, and light copper tones through the hair,” she says.
