Korean Celebrities Who Flawlessly Played Dual Roles: Ji Sung, Bae Suzy, More

From rom-com to makjang series, k-dramas often revolve around two characters played by one actor. However, playing dual roles isn’t as easy as playing just one character.

Interestingly, these stars managed to play two characters flawlessly.

Following the success of his K-drama The Devil Judge, Ji Sung returns to a dual role in Adamas.

The acclaimed actor took on the roles of famed novelist Ha Woo Shin and his twin brother, prosecutor Song Soo Hyun.

The tvN series follows the story of siblings whose mission is to find the real culprit who killed their stepfather. It came after her birth father was sentenced to prison after confessing to a crime he did not commit.

To reopen the case, they must find the murder weapon they believe the Adamas are.

In the thriller-mystery series, viewers praised Ji Sung for portraying both characters perfectly and conveying the different emotions of Ha Woo Shin and Song Soo Hyun.

Another 2022 K-drama with a dual-character lead is Bae Suzy’s Anna.

Interestingly, this is the first time the singer-actress has played two roles in one production, but she managed to play her character Lee Yoo Mi, a woman trapped in her lies. Because of her disorder, Ripley Syndrome, she created an alter ego, Anna Lee.

While Bae Suzy received massive praise for her K-Drama comeback, she tells in a livestream session on Twitter Blue Room that joining “Anna” marked the first time she’s been acclaimed for her acting. This is mainly because Bae was able to show Suzy how intense the character was.

“The Penthouse 2” Episode 8: Uhm Ki Joon forces Kim So Yeon to marry him

Who would forget the surprising twist in The Penthouse, where Shim Soo presents Ryun’s doppelganger through Na Ae Gyo and pretends to be her?

The two characters were flawlessly played by Lee Ji Ah for three seasons. Interestingly, aside from Shim Soo Ryun and Na Ae Gyo having different styles, the characters have different personalities, which made it difficult for the actress to shift emotions.

In a previous interview, she shared her preparations before filming her scenes.

Lee Ji Ah explained that the first thing she does is carefully internalize the different lives of Na Ae Gyo and Shim Soo Ryun.

“Na Ae Gyo has reached rock bottom in her life and is rougher and braver than the innocent and pure Shim Soo Ryun who has been cherished and loved all her life,” added the actress.

Kim So Hyun (School 2015)

Another actress who played two characters was Kim So Hyun in School 2015.

In the coming-of-age series, she took on the role of twin sisters Eun Bi and Eun Byul, who have the same looks but different personalities.

One of them plays the fearless sibling while the other became a victim of bullying at school.
