Despite recently becoming an Academy Award winner and starring in All At Once, the highest-grossing film of all time, actor Ke Huy Quan still eyes Hollywood and its luminaries with wide eyes. Throughout awards season, Quan has taken the opportunity to take selfies with other celebrities who, thanks to his cheerful personality, seem just as excited to meet him as he is to meet them. The caliber of artists he’s stumbled upon makes up for a glamorous collection of photos featuring film and movie stars of recent years.
However, Quan is no Hollywood newcomer. He made his film debut in 1984 opposite Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, directed by Steven Spielberg. A year later, he starred in The Goonies, which grossed $125 million worldwide and has become a cult film. After Quan slipped into obscurity and dabbled in behind-the-scenes positions, he returned to the big screen thanks to his role in All at Once — and received a warm welcome from his fellow cast members, as these pictures prove.
Among the personalities Quan has met are Tom Hanks and Malala Yousafzai, whom he met at the 95th Academy Awards luncheon. He also shared pictures with Emily Blunt and John Krasinski, Zendaya, Austin Butler and Terry Crews. His very first fashion show also gave him plenty of photo opportunities along with the opportunity to meet Anne Hathaway, Lily James, Channing Tatum and Miley Cyrus. Before that he was in the BAFTAs where he hung out with Richard E. Grant, Ariana DeBose and Diego Luna.
In addition to actors and singers, Quan has also immortalized his visits to morning and nighttime shows by taking selfies with their famous hosts (and sometimes their audience). In February, he posted a selfie with Stephen Colbert after appearing on the Late Show. The next day, he posed with Today’s Al Roker and actress/director Elizabeth Banks, who was also a guest. The day after the Oscars, he posted a selfie with Jimmy Kimmel and his show’s audience — holding his Oscar.
“I have a nephew who loves collecting Pokémon cards. Me? I feel so blessed to be able to collect celebrity selfies,” Quan admits on Instagram.
Fortunately, while the stream of selfies may have ended (for now, since awards season is over), he’s booked roles in new projects, like the second season of Loki and the star-studded film The Electric State. He’s sure to be sharing more selfies with his co-stars and flashing his signature infectious smile.
