Hollywood stars who responded to the Hamas attack in Israel
Gal Gadot
Gal Gadot, an Israeli actress best known for her work in Hollywood, is one of the first celebrities to respond to the ongoing issue. Gadot posted screenshots of a message about the conflict on Saturday. Gadot captioned the screenshots in solidarity with the innocent Israelis who are in the middle of a tragic battle.
She wrote: “At least 250 Israelis were slaughtered in Gaza by the Palestinian armed group Hamas and hundreds of women, children and the elderly were taken prisoner.” More than 3,000 rockets were fired from early morning. Hamas holds hostages and controls bases and settlements in Israel. There were more than 1,500 injured and heavy fighting is still ongoing. “I hear their voices and they are knocking on the door. I’m with my two young children.’ My heart hurts. I pray for everyone who is in pain.”
Joshua Malina
Joshua Malina, known for his roles in Scandal and The West Wing, is a Jewish actor who has spoken out about the terrible situation in Israel. Sharing a screenshot of a message about Hamas’ attack on Israel on X (formerly known as Twitter), Malina wrote: “Terrible news to wake up to.”
Jamie Lee Curtis
Jamie Lee Curtis, a Hollywood actress, expressed her quiet support for Israel. Curtis showed an Israeli flag on her Instagram account without a caption.
Amy Schumer
Comedian Amy Schumer tweeted, reposting a post from Guy Oseary, and wrote, “Jewish people are the only group not allowed to defend themselves.” This has absolutely nothing to do with the occupation. Hamas does not want the occupation to end. They want to wipe out Israel. “They are being financed by Iran, which is trying to derail the peace deal.”
Sarah Silverman
Sarah Silverman, a comedian, expressed her condolences for her sister, nieces and other family members who are currently stranded in Israel. Silverman posted on X and wrote: “My sister, my nieces and nephews are here.” They have been opposing BIBI for months. Strive for a two-state solution. Israelis are Jews, Arabs and people of all races. This is pretty complicated. But make no mistake: Hamas is a terrorist organization whose stated goal is to kill all Jews. “This damn world is breaking my heart.”
